The Club annually shows and rewards the best work from the year. Entries may have been submitted in a monthly competition during the year, or may be new work. Entries must be submitted on the club night prior to the Annual Competition.

Competition Rule Changes
Please note the following changes in the Annual Competition Rules that were made before last year’s competition. See individual sections for full details.
- The Pictorial Monochrome category is now open to Prints, Slides & DPIs (previously prints only).
- The Human Interest Award is now open to DPIs, Slides & All Prints (previously wet process only).
- The Best Print Quality Award is now open to any non-commercial print method (previously wet process only).
- The Best Digital Print Award is now open to any print method including commercial (previously owner print only).
- The Most Artistic Print Award is now open to any print method including commercial (previously owner print and wet process only).
Changes for this year’s competition:
- DPIs can be sized at a maximum width of 1400 px and maximum height of 1050 px (previously 1024 x 768 px).
Competition Rules
- The BCG Annual competition is open to Life Members and Members only. Affiliates and Honorary Members are not eligible to compete.
- Graded members must compete in their grade. (If you have not been graded, submit your entries into the “B” Grade section of the competition.)
- Acceptable media for the annual competition are DPIs (digitally projected images). Members may also submit audio-visual (AV) presentations which are broadly governed by the Interclub AV Rules (refer later section for more information).
- The Annual Competition is made up of six categories (Category definitions are provided on the next page.):
- Pictorial Monochrome
(Pictorial Monochrome was previously open to prints only. This category is now open to all media.) - Pictorial Colour
- Nature
- People
- Creative / Experimental
- Social Documentary / Photojournalism (SDP)
A maximum of eight images can be submitted into each category of the Annual Competition, with a maximum of four images per medium. The eight images can be made up of any combination of slides, prints and DPIs as long as there are no more than 4 in any one medium. See below for clarification. - A maximum of 48 images can be submitted into the Annual Competition, provided that Rule no.5 is adhered to.
- If a member has submitted more than 4 entries per medium in any category, the Director will have the right to remove enough entries to meet the guidelines above. If the error is not discovered until after the judging has been completed, entries will be removed in order of highest score until the guidelines have been met.
