The generous Greenaways once again provided their palatial grounds
as the venue for a BCG event and attendees made the most of the
facilities - gathering in the shady grassed areas to cool off and chat;
making use of the photogenic surrounds and backdrops; and even enjoying
a spot of tennis on the grass court.
The highlight of the spectacular lunch was the whole chooks, spiced
and roasted to an old Milford family recipe, provided by our recently
appointed Vice-President Bernard Milford.
Bernard led the catering brigade and was ably assisted by Diane
Francis, Tussie Toussaint, Marianne Purdie, Tim Boyd and Owen Watkin.
(Ed: apologies for any other helpers who have not been mentioned!)
Christmas pudding ice-cream topped off the delicious lunch, a welcome cool change on such a hot and steamy day.
Cold soft drinks were also a hit, available from the welcome table manned throughout the day by our Treasurer, Jess.
Attendees regularly retired to this shady area to
quench their thirst, in between bouts of photography, enjoying the
opportunities co-ordinated by the ever energetic and enthusiastic John
Lomas. As the afternoon drew to a close our President, Darran Croft, gathered
people together for the annual auction, conducted by Tim Boyd. The
auction offered up award winning images which were eagerly snapped up
at criminally low prices by the crowd.
Hot tip for 2008: if you are an admirer of the stunning work displayed
at BCG competitions - be sure to attend the annual auction to secure a
work of art for the best price in town!
