Colin Beard began his photography career in the mid-sixties as photographer and founding member of Australia’s first Rock 'n Roll Magazine, Go-Set, and went on to become one of Australia's most prominent fashion and advertising photographers.
He began teaching in 1977 as a founding member of the staff of The Sydney College of the Arts and later joined the staff of the Design Faculty of The University of Technology, Sydney, where he was instrumental in the development of the digital photography studios and in the conversion of the design programme to digital technology.
Colin Beard is now highly regarded as one of Australia's foremost photojournalists. He was the feature photographer in the first issue of Australian Geographic in 1985 and has worked extensively for leading magazines and newspapers. He has been published in numerous books and held solo exhibitions in all the major citiesof Australia, in many regional galleries and in London, Beijing (China) and in Cortona (Italy). He has also delivered guest lectures at a number of the major universities in Australia and in the UK and Italy.
After recently settling in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, Colin is working as a local professional photographer as well as conducting workshops and individual tuition at all levels of photography.
