Competition Subject Selection
Put your thinking cat on and help pick the set subjects for 2014. Sometimes abstract, sometimes stylistic; BCG competition subjects should be thought provoking and challenging. What topics can you come up with?
July Outing
Date: Sunday 7 July - 8.50am until about 11am
Location: GOMA
Set subject objective: Lines (for the August competition)
Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) is located at Southbank. http://www.qagoma.qld.gov.au/visiting-us/travelling_to_the_gallery#
Meeting Point: 8.50am outside the main doors, in front of the GOMA store. GOMA opens at 9am.
Museum etiquette: No flash photography, no tripods, no large bags.
Details: We'll have the opportunity to photograph the exterior of the building as well as explore the exhibit rooms and public areas. Keeping in mind the set subject objective for August - "lines" - this is our chance to take advantage of the supurb light, open spaces and design features of this lovely building. For those who might wish to take advantage of the (hopefully) good early morning light to shoot the exterior of the building before the museum opens, you are welcome to join us at the earlier time of 8am outside the main doors, in front of the GOMA store. We'll then join those who have arrived for the 8.50am start before moving inside the museum.
We'll have a couple of club members who have good skills in the architecture/natural light photography at hand to give us some tips.
We'll meet at 10.30am for a coffee in the GOMA Cafe Bistro (own cost).
Required equipment:
- Camera (& at least one lens)
- Full battery
- Empty storage card
Suggestion: get to know your camera's ISO settings and how to change the settings to get the best out of shooting in natural light, handheld (because no large tripods can used in the museum).
Members, potential members and their guests are welcome to join us. There is no charge for this outing.
To register please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Postponements or cancellations will be advised up to 3 hours before the scheduled time, via email, to those who have registered to attend.
