BCG's winning Interclub AV "Citycats" came together reluctantly, but once the topic was decided, serendipedous fortune smiled on the production team who were:-
Ray Lockett(director), Brian Carson, Kym Douglas, Dave Edney, Julie Moran, Cathy Rodier, Bernard Milford
It is a 5-min sequence of photos in a documentary style on the topic of Brisbane's Citycats, including their recovery after the recent floods. Historic shots of the January 2011 floods at Indooroopilly and along the river were provided by some BCG team members.
Timely indeed, a week into the project the Northshore terminal was opened, and within days the new "Spirit of Brisbane" citycat vessel was launched. We couldn't believe our luck, but were then frustrated that it was secreted away from public gaze for weeks. Our guess then was that QE II would ride aboard "Spirit" so we staked out the river on 24th Oct hoping for an exclusive of the Queen aboard the star vessel of our project, but alas only the entourage were aboard!
We then had another agonising wait for "spirit" to return to service as the competiton deadline was fast approaching - Ray's GoCard bill climbed as he took every opportunity on the river to spot it. Finally one Saturday morning Ray spotted her at Auchenflower and finally got the pics of the mud army roof mural needed to complete the storyline of our documentary.
It was great fun and we are celebrating that "Citycats" won the Interclub AV Club competition on 19th Nov. The audio content included a radio interview with Graham Quirk, a channel 10 news item, and we also interviewed Jim Soorley and several passengers and crew.
