AV rules and APS AV Division

The Australian Photographic Society have an Audiovisual Division which caters for their members wishing to advance the art of "Diaporama"

APS defines AV (or Diaporama as it is known in Europe) as "a sequence of still images where the storyline or theme, sound, transitions and images are interdependent. An effective sequence will have unity of its three parts: the conception, the visuals and the sound."

"The Third Image"
Where has the third image gone? Some of us are quite concerned about the extensive use of zooms and swipes etc. available in these newsoftware's. For instance, to portray Photo Harmony (an audiovisual without a script), the third image should be one of the main objectives, but these seem to be lost using the movement effects. A successful third image occurs when two images are dissolved into one another creating a third image, which flows without the loss of concentration that some effects cause. Remember, it is easy to use software effects, but very much harder and more interesting to create a third image.

The latest APS AV newsletter has articles on a new national competition, reslts of the APSCON 2011 AV comp and an explanation of the 321 competition format.
