River City Print Interclub Competition
The River City Print Interclub Competition is an annual competition that aims to inspire and enhance photography within Queensland camera clubs, while also providing a standard of comparison between clubs and their members.
In the spirit of competition, each club should have as many members represented as possible. This gives members the opportunity to be part of the interclub and have their work assessed and displayed in the River City Catalogue.

Club Entry Delegates
To enter the competition, each club must nominate a delegate to upload their club’s entry. Delegate details, including name, email and phone number, must be emailed to either of the contacts listed at the end of this document as soon as possible and no later than the entry opening date of 6 June 2026.
Competition Sections
The competition consists of five sections. Each club must submit a total of 20 prints, consisting of 4 prints in each of the following sections:
Open Colour, Open Monochrome, Animals, Portrait/People, and Open Non-A Grade.
Judging
Live Impact Panel Judging will be employed and three experienced judges engaged by the host club, none of whom are affiliated with any of the entrant camera clubs.

- Attendance fee: $10 per person, which includes afternoon tea
Registration information for the judging will be forwarded to clubs prior to the entry opening date.
Awards
Club Awards
The Perpetual Trophy will be awarded to the highest scoring club and a First Place Certificate issued.
Clubs placed second and third will receive award certificates.
Individual Awards
First, Second and Third Place in each section will receive an award certificate.
One print from all the first placed prints will be chosen as Champion Print and receive an award certificate.
All award certificates will be electronic and forwarded to the relevant club delegate for distribution.
Entry Rules
- There is no restriction on when an image was captured.
- There is no restriction on when a print was created.
- Prints entered in any previous River City Print Competition are not eligible.
- Prints are to be mounted/matted. Mounted prints must be adhered to foam board at no more than 3mm thickness.
- Finished size for mounted/matted prints must be no larger than 20” x 16”.
- Prints may be any size up to the maximum. Small prints may be disadvantaged in impact judging.

Clubs which do not use grades may still enter all sections of the competition.
For these clubs, any member whose images have not been selected by the club for the set subject sections
(Open Colour, Open Monochrome, Animals, Portrait/People) may have images selected for Open Non-A Grade.

Submitting Entries
Digital Version of Print Entries
Club delegates must upload a thumbnail digital version of their club’s twenty images to the River City Print Competition 2026 entry portal by the entry closing date.
The digital version of each image will be used to project a slideshow to the audience during live judging and to produce a digital catalogue of the results.
Judging will be conducted using the physical prints only.
File name: Must reflect the title, e.g. Morning mist.jpg
Title: 35 character limit — use only letters and spaces. Do not use numbers.
Colour space: sRGB
Maximum file size: 2 MB
Max image sizing: 1920px by 1080px
Horizontal oriented images must be a maximum width of 1920 pixels and the height must not exceed 1080 pixels.
Vertical oriented images must be 1080 pixels in height, with width in proportion.
Square oriented images must be 1080px x 1080px.
Prints
After the thumbnail digital images have been uploaded, club delegates must print entry labels as indicated on the website entry portal and affix them to the matching image.
The labels must be placed on the back of the matt board/mounts in the centre at the top of the print, to indicate the top of the image.

Return of Prints
Prints may be collected from the Albion Peace & Community Centre by club delegates following the judging, or as separately arranged.
Prints required to be returned to delegates by post will incur a charge to help defray costs.
Catalogue
A PDF catalogue including all entries will be available for download after the competition.
Payment of Club Fee
An entry fee of $40 is payable for each club.
An additional fee of $25 is payable by clubs that require their prints to be returned by post.
Fees are to be paid by PayPal as provided on the website entry portal. Fees are non-refundable.
Section Definitions
Open Colour
Any subject that is treated pictorially, embodying the elements of good design, arrangement or composition, and reflecting the personal interpretation of the photographer.
The content is unrestricted and may include creative images with all forms of manipulation permitted. Images must be in colour.
Open Monochrome
An image containing tones of only one colour. This includes black-and-white photography (shades of neutral grey ranging from black to white) as well as images toned in sepia, cyan, blue, brown and similar tones.
Partial toning or the addition of an extra colour is not allowed.
Animals
Images of living, untamed or domesticated animals (including pets) in natural or other outdoor environments that may include objects made by humans. Zoo animals are acceptable.
Images may feature single or multiple animals photographed outdoors. Indoor studio animal portraits are not accepted.
For the purpose of this topic, an animal is defined as a living being, excluding humans, that can breathe, move, eat, reproduce and react to the world through its senses.
Mammals, birds, reptiles, insects and fish are all included.
It is acceptable for evidence of a human environment and supporting manmade accessories to appear, although photographs may not include people.
Controlling live subjects by chilling, anaesthetic or any other method of restricting natural movement for the purpose of a photograph is not allowed.
Portrait/People
A photograph of a person or persons that may range from a head study to full body length. This section includes candid photographs and formal portraits.
The image may include accessories and backgrounds in character with the subject and may be taken in a formal studio setting or in the community at large.
It may be in colour or monochrome. The subject must be a live human being; mannequins, statues or ornaments will not be accepted.
Open Non-A Grade
Any subject that is treated pictorially, embodying the elements of good design, arrangement or composition, and reflecting the personal interpretation of the photographer.
The content is unrestricted and may include creative images with all forms of manipulation permitted. Images may be in colour or black and white.
