
River City Print Interclub Competition
Proudly hosted by the Brisbane Camera Group in 2026.
The River City Print Interclub Competition is an annual competition that aims to inspire and enhance photography within camera clubs as well as to facilitate a standard of comparison between clubs and their members.
In the spirit of competition, each club should have as many as possible of its members represented. This provides all members with the opportunity to be a part of the interclub and have their work assessed and displayed in the River City Catalogue.

SALON
The Salon consists of five sections. Each club is invited to submit a total of 20 prints, consisting of 4 prints in each section. The section topics this year are: Open Colour, Open Monochrome, Open Animals, Portrait/People, and Open Non‐A Grade.
JUDGING
Live Impact Panel Judging will be employed and three experienced judges engaged by the host club, none of whom are affiliated with any of the entrant camera clubs.

- Date: Saturday 26 September 2 pm to 5 pm
- Where: Albion Peace & Community Centre, 102 McDonald Rd, Windsor.
- Attendance fee: $10 per person, which includes afternoon tea.
Registration information for the judging will be forwarded to clubs closer to the time.
AWARDS
Champion Club Award -
- Perpetual Trophy for the highest scoring club.
Individual Awards
- First, Second and Third Place in each section will receive an Award Certificate.
- One print from all the first placed prints will be chosen as Champion Print & receive an Award Certificate.
ENTRY RULES
- There is no restriction on when an image was captured.
- There is no restriction on when a print was created.
- Prints entered in any previous River City Print Competition are not eligible.
- Prints are to be mounted/matted. Mounted prints must be adhered to foam board at no more than 5mm thickness.
- Finished size for mounted/matted prints must be no larger than 20” x 16”
- Prints may be any size up to the maximum. (Note that small prints may be disadvantaged in impact judging.)
- Clubs which do not use grades may still enter all sections of the competition.
For these clubs, any member whose images have not been selected by the club for the set subject sections (Open Colour; Open Monochrome; Open Animals; Portrait/People) may have images selected for Open Non-A Grade.

SUBMITTING ENTRIES
Digital version of print entries
Clubs must upload a digital version of all entries to the River City Print Competition 2026 website by the closing date.

It is recommended that one nominated member from each club upload entries on behalf of the club.
This digital version will be used to project the slideshow to the audience during live judging and to produce
a digital catalogue of the results.
The judging will be conducted using the physical print only.
File name: Must reflect the title e.g. Title: Morning mist, then file name: Morning mist.jpg
Title: 35 character limit - use only letters and spaces. Do not use numbers.
Colour space: sRGB
Maximum file size: 2 MB
Image Sizing: 1920px by 1080px
Horizontal oriented images must be 1920 pixels in width and let the height take care of itself as long it does not exceed 1080 px. (if it exceeds 1080 px, then size the image to 1080 px high)
Vertical oriented images must be 1080 pixels in height and let the width take care of itself
Square oriented images must be 1080 pixels x 1080 pixels
Prints
After entries have been uploaded, a ‘Print entry labels’ button will appear. Print these labels and affix them to the matching image, on the back of the matt board in the centre at the top of the print, with an arrow indicating the top of the image.
Prints (mounted/matted and with entry labels affixed) must be delivered to arrive by the closing date. Late entries will not be accepted.

A PDF catalogue including all entries will be available for download after the competition.
PAYMENT OF CLUB FEE
An entry fee is payable to the hosting club:
$40 for clubs with 45 members or more.
$20 for clubs with fewer than 45 members.
Entry fees are to be paid by Paypal on the entry portal website
Entry fees are non-refundable.
SECTION DEFINITIONS
Open Colour
The content is unrestricted and may include creative images, with all forms of manipulation permitted. Any subject that is treated pictorially, embodying the elements of good design, arrangement or composition, which reflects the personal interpretation of the photographer. Images may only be in colour.
Open Monochrome
An image containing tones of only one colour. This includes black-and-white photography (shades of neutral grey ranging from black to white) as well as images toned in sepia, cyan, blue, brown etc. Partial toning or the addition of an extra colour is not allowed.
Open Animals
Images of living untamed or domesticated animals (including pets) in natural or other outdoor environments that may include objects made by humans. Images may feature single or multiple animals. An animal (for the purpose of this topic) is defined as a living being (except for humans) that can breathe, move, eat, reproduce and react to the world through its senses (eg sight, smell, hearing). Therefore
mammals, birds, reptiles, insects, fish are all animals for the purpose of this topic. It is acceptable that evidence of a human environment the animal frequents is included, along with any supporting manmade accessories although photographs may not include people.
Portrait/People
A photograph of a person or persons that may range from a head study to full body length. This section includes candid photographs and formal portraits.
The image may include accessories and backgrounds in character with the subject and may be taken in a formal studio setting or in the community at large. It may be in colour or monochrome. Must be a live human being (mannequins, statues or ornaments will not be accepted).
Open Non-A Grade
The content is unrestricted and may include creative images, with all forms of manipulation permitted. Any subject that is treated pictorially, embodying the elements of good design, arrangement or composition, which reflects the personal interpretation of the photographer is encouraged. Images may be in colour or black and white.
